Introduction
It is 1967. Bri and Sheila are trying to make the best of their lives. Their daughter, Joe, is 10 years old and has severe disabilities that mean she is unable to talk or walk, and is confined to a wheelchair.
Bri is a schoolteacher and hates his job. He sees no future for his family, and believes that Joe would be better off if she were dead. It falls to Sheila to keep the family together and try to break the daily grind.
Bri and Sheila resort to black comedy and a fantasy world where their daughter is given personality traits and is able to communicate with them about her life. Their friends and family struggle to understand the way they cope.

Reminiscences and Anecdotes
Samantha Golton I was very early on (ie not-telling-anyone*-and-still-able-to-get-away-with-a-bit-of-tummy-flab early on) in my second pregnancy when this production went up. The more eagle-eyed amongst the audience would have clocked that I was not-inhaling revolting herbal cigarettes. Rock n Roll! Ironically of course even if my character had been pregnant, at the time this play was written and set she would have still been puffing away like a trouper. Still, it was all good fun, fantastic cast, especially Marnie Jacobsen, who was very professional and throughly deserved her award presented in December that year.
- *Apart from Angela Barnes and Guy Jones because we needed to discuss the smoking and also I needed to make sure they understood that if I forgot my lines it was purely down to baby-brain and not due to lack of preparation on my part... ;-)
