A play with music by Anthony Burgess

Directed by Dee Fancett

Performances: Tue 7th to Sat 11th June 2005, Bell Theatre

Introduction

'Goodness comes from within. Goodness is something chosen. When a man cannot choose, he ceases to be a man'.

A powerful tale of gang violence and "justice" and freedom, Beethoven-loving Alex and his "Droogs" punctuate their dull post-modern lives with bouts of mindless violence, including murder and rape. Alex is caught and subjected to frightening scientific experiments designed to make him "good". With rising concern about violent crime and efforts by law enforcement agencies to employ modern technology in the fight against crime, A Clockwork Orange raises relevant and complex moral questions.
