Miles Malleson as Canon Chasuble in the 1952 film of The Importance Of Being Earnest

Introduction

William Miles Malleson (25 May 1888 – 15 March 1969), generally known as Miles Malleson, was an English actor and dramatist, particularly remembered for his appearances in British comedy films of the 1930s to 1960s. He appeared in over 125 films, usually in smaller supporting roles; he is probably best known today for playing the hangman in Kind Hearts And Coronets and Canon Chasuble in Anthony Asquith's 1952 film of Oscar Wilde's The Importance Of Being Earnest.
