Introduction

Since 1976 she has written over twenty plays, her most famous being Frozen (1998).She translated a 2007 version of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, has written the biography of the actress Tallulah Bankhead and has been a lecturer in playwriting at Birmingham University. She came out as gay when she was in her thirties after being married for a time.
