Introduction

Set in Deauville and Paris, 1930, Private Lives is Noël Coward's 20th century comedy masterpiece looking at the impossible relationship of Elyot and Amanda who seem unable to live with, or without each other and the effects this has on their respective new spouses. This is comedy to get your teeth into - some of the funniest lines and most famous characters in the English language, but with a cynical world view and dark passion underneath.
